REPENTANCE AND CONFESSION
Two of the hardest words in our Christian vocabulary
Those and discipline…
Hard for Judas
__________________________________________________________

He kept his sins hidden from his friends and ministry partners (John 13:27-30).
And when Judas ate the piece of bread, Satan[a] entered him. Then Jesus looked at Judas and said, “What you are planning to do, go do it now.” 28 None of those around the table realized what was happening. 29 Some thought that Judas, their trusted treasurer, was being told to go buy what was needed for the Passover celebration, or perhaps to go give something to the poor. 30 So Judas left quickly and went out into the dark night to betray Jesus.
“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy”
— Proverbs 28:13.

Confess to God – forgiveness

1 John 1:9
But if we freely admit our sins when his light uncovers them,[a] he will be faithful to forgive us every time. God is just to forgive us our sins because of Christ, and he will continue to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.[b]

LORDS PRAYER
Forgive others as you forgive us…

Our forgiveness is complete.
Just like grace – we never expect forgiveness of God from men
__________________________________________________________

Human forgiveness appeals to the humanistic selfishness
“Look at how much I forgave…”
Makes the fault an idol so that focus on their situation in relation to the fault…

Forgiveness from God is complete and is immediate.
Because “It is done…”

Confess to others – healing

James 5:16
Confess and acknowledge how you have offended one another[a] and then pray for one another to be instantly healed,[b] for tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer[c] of a godly believer!

Matthew 5:23-24
Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
It’s about clear conscience…
Raise your hands when worship but not tonight because I can feel his eyes on the back of my head…
__________________________________________________________

Point our friends to God
We choose friends who point to God…

We c ant get divine forgives from man!

Friends who love God more than you!
__________________________________________________________

HEBREWS 10:24-25
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
__________________________________________________________

Freedom to talk to God about it (Vulnerability without the fear of hurt or judgement – Forgiveness)

Don’t need to be transparent with God – he sees right through you anyway – Vulnerable with Him = REPENTANCE

Wholeness to openly discuss it with friends that love God more than you (Transparency made possible by the cleaning out by Jesus)

Man can not see your intentions and so transparency helps others guide your heart and that leads to healing.

THADDEUS THE JUDE

LUKE 6:16 Calls him Judas (Thaddeus)

Jude 20-21
But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

John 14:22-27
Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

That one interaction is the blue print for the book of Jude

OBEDIENT vs. DISOBEDIENT
ENCOURAGEMENT OR CALL TO GO ON
DOXOLOGY

Jude 24-25
To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
