It is far deeper than just an animalistic instinct to find a mate or move with the pack. We gain deep emotional fulfillment from being relational. God is relational too. In fact, He describes His relational attributes before He created man.

Obedience is the mechanism we have of activating the promise of God.
Our obedience to His ways exposes us to a cause and effect on a Divine scale. A single act of obedience sets off a chain reaction of supernatural interventions in multiple areas of our lives.
Obedience to the principles of God connects who we were designed to be to the One who created us.
