DISCIPLESHIP
————————————————————————————————-
Hebrews 12:1-2 (NLT) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, (DISCIPLE) the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.[a] Because of the joy[b] awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

HE IS ENOUGH SO WE CAN BE ENOUGH
————————————————————————————————-
Mark 6 – Feeding of 5000 – 5 loaves 2 fish.
We Don’t Have Enough.
————————————————————————————————-
• Too many bills and not enough money in the bank.
• Too many doctor’s appointments and not enough definitive answers.
• Too many interviews and not enough job offers.
• Too many demands and not enough solutions.
————————————————————————————————-
The effect of Jesus’s teachings on the human psyche – he taught us what we needed to add to our lack to be enough.

When we lack peace he taught us faith
When lack resolve he taught us passion
When we lack provision he taught us abundance
When we lack acceptance he taught us forgiveness
————————————————————————————————-
World or Jesus teachings make us feel enough, whole and fulfilled.?

How do we become enough? “Be my Disciple”
————————————————————————————————-
I am a disciple if I follow Jesus’ teachings. (John 8:31-32)
Jesus’ emphasis is on ACTION not on UNDERSTANDING
————————————————————————————————-
John 8:31-32 (NLT)
31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Eg. Forgiveness
May seem radical and not of this world – but thats the point – we need the divine.
————————————————————————————————-
2. I am a disciple if I submit my entire life to God’s leadership. (Luke 14:28-33)
Luke 14:28-33 (NLT)
28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? 29 Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. 30 They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’
31 “Or what king would go to war against another king without first sitting down with his counselors to discuss whether his army of 10,000 could defeat the 20,000 soldiers marching against him? 32 And if he can’t, he will send a delegation to discuss terms of peace while the enemy is still far away. 33 So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.

3. I am a disciple if I love others. Even my enemies. (John 13:34-35)
John 13:34-35 (The Message)
34-35 “Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”
————————————————————————————————-
4. I am a disciple if I bear spiritual fruit. (John 15:5-8)
John 15:4-8
4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. 7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!8 When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.
What kind of fruit? Gal 5:22-23

More than Enough
2Cor. 4:17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. (More than enough)
