Jubilee: Celebration and Calibration

When we tune in to Kingdom Reality, we become instruments for that Reality to invade our own reality. When we increase the competency and capacity of our faith, we become greater instruments for that Reality and have a greater impact on this reality.

Luke 17:15–16a (ESV) 15 Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; 16 and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks.

Luke 17:19 (KJV) And he said unto him, “Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”

Hebrews 12:25–29 (NLT) 25 Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven! 26 When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.” 27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.

1 Peter 4:17 (ESV) For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Hebrews 12:27 (NLT) This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.

To become unshakable, we need deep and strong roots in Jesus.

Colossians 2:6–7 (NLT) 6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

The Body of Christ is strongest when it is rooted in Christ together.

To become unshakable, we also need deep and strong roots in Jesus’ Body, the Church.

1 Corinthians 3:11 (NLT) For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 12:27 (NLT) This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.

To become unshakable, we must build our whole lives on the unshakable foundation of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom.

Hebrews 12:28–29 (NLT) 28 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. 29 For our God is a devouring fire.

Gratitude

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV) Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Gratitude recalibrates us to the unshakable reality of God’s character and His Kingdom.

Psalm 27:4 (ESV) 4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple….

Psalm 105:1–5 (ESV) 1 Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! 2 Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! 4 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! 5 Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,

Worship anchors us to the unshakable reality of God’s character and His Kingdom.

The Fear of the Lord

The Fear of the the Lord is not studying about God, but living in reverence before God and in relationship with Him.

Psalm 25:12-14 (ESV) Who is the man who fears the Lord? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose. His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land. The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.

2 Corinthians 5:10–11a (ESV) 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. 11 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others.

Romans 14:10b-12 (ESV) …For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

The Fear of the the Lord grounds us on the unshakable reality of God’s character and His Kingdom.

Isaiah 33:5-6 (ESV) The Lord is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness, and he will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is Zion’s treasure.

“To know God is to fear Him. And this fear is to love Him as He deserves to be loved.” ~ A.W. Tozer

God’s loving presence is a fire that destroys what it cannot purify, but purifies what it cannot destroy.
